Periodic inspection and testing reports (sometimes know as landlord certificates) provide a in depth report on the electrical installation. All types of properties should have them carried out from time to time to ensure that there are no dangerous faults that could cause a fire or endanger life.
As a minimum domestic properties should be tested every 10 years or on change of occupancy (whichever is sooner), often electricians will recommend shorter intervals depending on the age of the installation. Many people think that because their "electrics work", that they are safe, this is often not the case as many faults can remain hidden for many years (if you are lucky). |
